Meet Ashley Janssen

I built MedMuse because I watched the system fail good providers.

I started my career in insurance verification at a specialty pharmacy and learned from the ground up how to get costly services covered, navigate prior authorizations, and make sure patients and providers weren’t left holding the bag. Over five years, I worked with every type of insurance imaginable: commercial, federal, state, Medicaid, and even specialized institutions like correctional facilities. I learned that getting claims right isn’t just technical work. It’s advocacy work.

From there, I moved into commercial medical billing for a Critical Access Hospital. I billed claims that included ambulatory surgery, wound care, physical and occupational therapy, pain management, infusions, dietary, and more. Our hospital group included eight health clinics, several of them rural. I saw the full arc of what healthcare billing can look like at its most complex and its most fragile.

I also saw what happens when it breaks. I watched rural clinics close their doors, not because they lacked patients, but because they couldn’t get paid. I saw how hard providers worked, and how the billing system made that work harder than it needed to be. This industry is complicated, and too often it’s rigged against the people who are just trying to keep their practices open and their patients cared for.

MedMuse is built on the belief that solo practitioners, micropractices, and clinicians from underrepresented communities deserve the same quality of billing knowledge and support as large health systems — without surrendering control of their own revenue. I don’t take over your billing. I help you own it.
